Description
Technical Parameters
Manufacturer: GE
Series: Mark V / Mark VIe
Channels: 16 differential
Input Range: -10 mV to +100 mV (Type J/K/T/E)
Cold Junction: Single onboard precision sensor with enhanced linearization
Isolation: 1500V AC
Accuracy: ±0.08% at 25°C, ±0.15% across full temperature range
Sampling: 10 Hz sequential
Temp Range: -40°C to +70°C (operating) – extended low end vs standard G1B, -55°C to +85°C (storage)
Mounting: VME rack
Suffix “G1BTF”: Enhanced accuracy (G1B) + Teflon (PTFE) conformal coating (TF) – specialized fluoropolymer coating offering superior chemical, moisture, and non-stick properties
Key Features
Enhanced accuracy – ±0.08% for critical temperature measurements
Faster sampling – 10 Hz for responsive monitoring
Teflon (PTFE) conformal coating – superior chemical resistance (acids, bases, solvents), extreme moisture barrier, low friction surface, excellent dielectric properties, and temperature stability from -55°C to +150°C
Extended low-temperature range – operates down to -40°C, suitable for arctic or unheated cabinets
Improved cold-junction compensation – better linearization across ambient variations
Basic self-diagnostics – open-circuit and short-circuit detection per channel
Simple swap – no firmware changes required in most Mark V systems
LED status per channel + board health
Backward compatible with Mark V and Mark VIe (hot-swap only on VIe Rev D+)
Applications
Chemical processing plants – where strong acids, bases, and aggressive solvents are present; PTFE coating resists chemical attack that degrades standard acrylic coatings
Pharmaceutical manufacturing – cleanroom environments requiring non-contaminating, non-stick surfaces
Paper and pulp mills – high-moisture, high-chlorine environments
Food and beverage processing – where cleaning chemicals (chlorine, caustics) are used regularly
Coastal power plants – superior moisture barrier against salt spray
Laboratory and test cells – environments with solvent vapors where standard coatings degrade
Turbine installations near chemical storage areas – long-term protection against chemical fumes

Selection Tips
Choose the DS200TCEAG1BTF if your environment has aggressive chemicals (acids, bases, solvents) that would degrade standard coatings, and you require high accuracy (±0.08%)
For extreme corrosion (H₂S, salt spray) rather than chemical exposure, the DS200TCEAG1BJE (military-grade coating) may be better suited
For the same chemical resistance but without high-accuracy needs, consider the DS200TCDAG1B variant with PTFE coating (if available)
For standard environments, the DS200TCEAG1B is more economical
Verify existing wiring is 2-wire standard – this board uses G1-series terminal mapping
Source from suppliers who can provide PTFE coating verification and thickness measurement
Precautions
ESD sensitive – use wrist strap; PTFE coating does not eliminate ESD risk
Power down for Mark V removal (no hot-swap)
Torque terminals to 0.5 N·m max – over-tightening cracks PCB traces
Do not exceed -40°C to +70°C operating range – PTFE coating is stable beyond this, but components are not
PTFE coating is slippery – handle with care to avoid dropping the board; use non-slip work surfaces
Avoid scratching the coating – PTFE can be abraded; scratches expose the PCB underneath
No rework or soldering – PTFE coating is near-impossible to remove cleanly in the field; repairs are not recommended
Calibrate every 24 months – accuracy spec depends on valid calibration
Ground shields only at the board end
Verify thermocouple type – hardware optimized for J/K (T/E reduces accuracy to ±0.15%)
Label cables clearly as “G1BTF – PTFE COATED”
Store spares at 15°C–35°C, 40%–60% RH; avoid direct contact with sharp objects that could scratch the coating
